REDDITCH Co-operative Homes has been applauded by local MP Jacqui Smith for its programme to provide affordable housing in the area.
Ms Smith visited a development of three bungalows at Forest View to celebrate its completion. The project cost over £ 300,000 and has been delivered in partnership with Redditch Borough Council.
The three two bedroom bungalows have enabled older people to move into accommodation more suitable to their needs, and has released other larger properties for families to occupy in the town.
Bill Hartnett Chair of Redditch Co-operative Homes said: "This is great news for Redditch. Almost every family in town must know someone who is living in overcrowded or inappropriate housing, more and more young families are finding they can no longer afford to buy properties.
"This is a development of high quality affordable bungalows which in turn frees up houses for families. We would like to thank the Council for its vision and support."
Ms Smith added: "I am always impressed and delighted to see the way they involve and offer real choice in their homes to perspective tenants. The way in which Redditch Co-operative Homes empowers and offers choice in public services is a model for others to emulate."
