THE recent funeral of former Manchester United and Northern Ireland football star George Best was arranged by a Belfast funeral business owned by United Co-operatives.
The business – James Brown & Son – was acquired by United five years ago, but still trades under its original name.
Tens of thousands of people plus a TV audience of millions watched the funeral procession wind its way through Belfast to the service at Stormont Castle, the province's seat of government.
The undertaker on charge on the day was Beverley Brown, a daughter of the firm's founder, who said she felt honoured and privileged to be able to support the Best family at such a sad time.
Said Ms Brown: "I am big football fan so it was very special for me to be involved in George's funeral."
