MIDLANDS Co-operative Society has announced that its Head of Finance, Martyn Cheatle, is to take on additional responsibilities as Deputy Chief Executive.
Mr Cheatle joined the society in September 2001, having previously been Finance Director at Gala Leisure and prior to this, Financial Controller at Bass Brewers. He is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
Mr Cheatle said: "Naturally I&#039m delighted with the promotion and I&#039m looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Midlands Co-op has an excellent reputation as an expanding organisation focussed on the needs of its members, employees and the local communities which it serves, and I am looking forward to playing a major role in its continued success.
"When I joined the society I set myself the challenge of creating an efficient customer focussed shared service centre, and I feel that with the support of a very experienced team, we have made significant progress.
"The challenge now is to continue to drive change within the organisation whilst ensuring our growth ambitions are achieved through targeted investment across our core businesses. I have really enjoyed my first four years with the society, and I&#039m confident that the future of Midlands Co-op is a positive one."
Mr Cheatle lives in Barton-under-Needwood near Lichfield, Staffordshire and is married with one daughter.
