THERE were celebrations at a Travelcare branch after the branch manager won a place in next April's London marathon.
Rebecca Clarke, who manages the store in Coleraine, Northern Ireland heard of her acceptance in the race, after her success in Newcastle's Great North Run last month.
A keen fitness fanatic and charity fund-raiser, Rebecca, along with three friends raised £ 2,000 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation in September's north eastern half marathon, and now hopes to raise the same amount, singlehandedly by entering the capital's annual 26-mile event.
Although Rebecca has run half marathons before in the Province, this was her debut in the Great North Run, but she did herself proud, finishing a personal best of two hours, eight minutes.
Since 2002, Rebecca has been heavily involved in fund-raising for the Ulster Cancer Foundation, following the death of her father to the disease. She has taken part in the charity's annual organised climb up Ben Nevis, for the last three years, raising over £ 1,500.
