UNITED Co-operatives is to sponsor "The World&#039s Biggest Rugby League Festival", which initially will involve 7,000 youngsters between the ages of seven and 11 playing the sport at 34 venues across the north of England.
The project has benefited from a Sportsmatch Award, part of the Government&#039s Grass Roots Sports Sponsorship Scheme.
Commented Philip Jones, Secretary of United Co-operatives: "We are a highly successful business and return 25 per cent of our distributable profits to key stakeholder groups including the many communities we serve. We have supported Rugby League for many years and see this new area of sponsorship as an exciting extension of our involvement in the sport, in youth development and the communities in which we trade."
