LINCOLNSHIRE Co-operative has acquired two additional funeral businesses to strengthen its position as the county&#039s largest funeral provider.

The society has bought V. Walker & Son of Louth plus Bloomers – which has branches in Alford, Mablethorpe and Sutton-on Sea. The moves take the society&#039s total number of funeral homes to 13.

V. Walker & Son has been run by John Walker since 1957 and whilst he is retiring from the business, the society is pleased to have secured his services on an ongoing consultancy basis.

The business will continue trading as V Walker Funeral Services under the care of funeral director Tony Lione.

The funeral business of D W Bloomer had been operated by Andrew and Jayne Bloomer since 1991 having inherited the business from Andrew&#039s father, who founded the business in 1971.

All D W Bloomer employees, including manager David Camm, have transferred employment to Lincolnshire Co-op and the society intends to increase the staffing by a further eight people to align the business with its own service standards.
