THE Phone Co-op has teamed up with Co-operative Financial Services to help develop an ethical policy.
CFS, which incorporates the Co-operative Bank and Co-operative Insurance Services, has shared its expertise with the Phone Co-op.
Currently the only telecommunications co-operative in the UK, the Phone Co-op is looking to make its ethical ethos much clearer to customers.
Customer research indicated that ethical issues were very important to them in their choice of The Phone Co-op as their supplier.
Therefore, they decided to call upon the expertise of the sustainability team at CFS to help them develop and update their own ethical policy approach.
Chris Smith, CFS Head of Community and Co-operative Affairs, said: "Meetings and discussions such as these are a fantastic example of the wider Co-operative Movement working together and sharing its know-how."
Vivian Woodell, Chief Executive of the Phone Co-op said: "We aim to take a more ethical approach to our business than our competitors.
"A clear ethical, defensible and understandable ethical policy is becoming essential for all co-operative organisations.
"Our colleagues at CFS have been extremely helpful in sharing with us their valuable experience in the area of ethical policy formulation, and this is of real benefit to The Phone Co-op as we work towards codifying our own ethical policies in a way to which customers, members and staff can relate."
