NORTHERN Ireland Co-op&#039s stand featuring the Co-operative Group&#039s family of businesses won a top award at the prestigious Balmoral Agricultural Show in Belfast.
Competing against the major UK supermarket multiples and Ireland&#039s leading businesses, Northern Ireland Co-op took the runner-up&#039s prize, behind the Irish Tourist Board, for the best trade stand at the event which was attended by more than 70,000 visitors over three days.
"We were thrilled to receive the award which recognised the hard work of many people in producing a really interesting stand which attracted thousands of visitors and so much favourable comment," said Northern Ireland Co-op secretary Anna McAleavy.
"This is the first time we have exhibited at the show which is one of the most popular events in Northern Ireland and is the largest showcase of our rural economy. Our participation was co-ordinated by the membership department in Northern Ireland but there was tremendous enthusiasm from all the businesses taking part – food retail, Travelcare, Co-operative Funeralcare, the Co-operative Bank, CIS and Co-op Pharmacy – which was rewarded by the huge number of people who visited the stand," added Anna.
