Midlands Co-op is asking its staff to 'be bold, go bald' by organising a mass charity head shave throughout its stores in the Midlands area.
Micheal Gibson from Midlands Co-op's Business Support Centre in Lichfield went under the clippers and raised a hair-raising £ 420 for their staff elected charity CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading children's cancer charity.
He hopes that his new look will go some way towards helping provide better care to cancer and leukaemia suffers in the Midlands area.
Every 48 hours, 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia. CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens. It provides clinical, psychosocial, emotional and financial care and support to these children and their families.
Midlands Co-op is one of the UK's largest regional co-operative societies. This year it has pledged to raise £ 100,000 for CLIC Sargent, its staff-elected charity for 2005.
