People of all ages and abilities will be able to try their hand at croquet and other mallet games thanks to Oxford Swindon & Gloucester Co-op.
A £ 1000 Co-op community dividend grant has been awarded to Swindon Croquet Club to buy new equipment to increase the number of players at the club.
The grant will be used to buy equipment for four teams and more hoops so that the club lawns playing area can be extended. It will also purchase a trailer to transport an indoor carpet that will increase the availability of venues that can be used in winter months.
The club has been running for five years and provides coaching for all age groups and abilities in croquet and mallet games. They have formed links with local schools and community groups to educate them about mallet games and encourage them to take part and enjoy healthy exercise. They can also involve special needs children.
