A WEEK after leaving the Co-operative Group, it has emerged Eoin McGettigan, has been headhunted by Irish retailer Dunnes Stores.
According to reports the €2.8 billion privately owned retailer is set to appoint Eoin McGettigan as its director of food.
Mr McGettigan, the former Head of Food Retail, surprised the Co-op Group after leaving just three months into the job. He was previously head of Londis before joining the society.
He told the Group that his new role represents an opportunity he just could not turn down. He said: "This has been an extremely difficult decision for me to make; and, it saddens me to be leaving the Co-operative Group. During my time heading up food retail I have been struck by the enormous potential of this brand and the commitment of the Group's management team to overcoming the business' short-term difficulties. I'm only sorry I won't be part of it."
