LEEDS Co-op Chief Executive Alan Gill samples a pint of the new Co-op Fair Trade Bumble Bee Honey Ale as the society prepares for Fairtrade Fortnight (March 1-13) and the forthcoming three-day Leeds Beer Festival which opens at Pudsey Civic Hall on March 10.

The full-flavoured Honey Ale is brewed exclusively for the Co-op by the award-winning Freeminer Brewery in the Royal Forest of Dean. It uses first gold hops from Worcestershire and Fairtrade honey from Chile and is said to go well with Caesar salad, chicken pasta and cheesecake.

"It should go down well in Leeds which has earned an enviable reputation in Fairtrade circles over the past few years," says Mr Gill, who is pictured with Beeston store manager Brian Ogier.
