SLEIGH bells were heard in Chesterfield last weekend as Father Christmas made his grand appearance at the Midlands Co-op Department Store in Elder Way.
Hundreds of people gathered to greet him as he arrived at the store in an vintage fire engine. Also joining in the fun were members of staff in fancy dress plus the Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Youth Brass Band entertained the crowd.
Department store manager, David Pearce said: "Santa&#039s arrival is always a fantastic event, and this year was no exception. There was a real carnival atmosphere with hundreds of children waiting to see him arrive ? it was a brilliant day."
Children can come and chat to Father Christams in the store&#039s toy department at various times throughout November and December.
