Heart of England Co-op name new Chief Executive

HEART of England Co-op has named Ali Kurji as its new Chief Executive following Richard Samson&#039s recent departure to Ipswich & Norwich Society.

Mr Kurji was previously Deputy Chief Executive and Secretary at Heart of England, the Coventry and Warwickshire region&#039s largest independent retailer.

He originally joined the then Coventry and District Co-op as a Management Accountant in 1982, progressing to Accountant, General Manager (Finance), Financial Controller and Secretary in January 1998, and Deputy Chief Executive and Secretary in 2003 – his last role before being appointed as Chief Executive.

Commenting on his new position as Chief Executive Mr Kurji said: "The society is in a very sound financial state and we hope to build further profitable expansion of our various business activities upon the foundations already laid in recent years."
