HEART of England Society Chief Executive Richard Samson is to take over from Bill Brown as chief officer at Ipswich & Norwich Co-op in the autumn.
Mr Samson, a 51-year-old Glaswegian, has over 30 years&#039 experience of co-operative retailing. In his current position, which he has occupied for nearly nine years, he has made a significant contribution to the progress of Heart of England Co-op, which has now achieved seven successive years of record profitability.
He will take up his new appointment when Mr Brown retires at the end of October, though there is likely to be an ?overlap&#039 period to allow Mr Samson to familiarise himself with the complexeties of his new role.
Mr Samson said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the Ipswich and Norwich Society ? one of the largest and most successful co-operatives in the country. I look forward to pursuing the extensive development programme that is already underway across the region.
"However it will be a big wrench to leave Heart of England. The staff are a terrific group of people to work with and they have helped make the society one of the strongest in the Movement."
