THE Co-op is everywhere these days ? even at the South Pole.
Michael McGrath, with the support of his local Co-operative Group store in Buntingford, Herts, has made history by becoming the first disabled person to reach both North and South Poles.
Michael has muscular dystrophy and to reach their goal he and his team endured temperatures of -46 C.
The trip was the inaugural event for the Muscle Help Foundation that aims to raise global awareness and £ 1 million for research into muscular dystrophy.
A fun day at Michael's local Co-op store raised £ 1,000 and the Group also supported his expedition with a £ 3,500 donation.
