UNITED Co-op Travel has acquired the Bourne Travel business at Highfield Road, Blackpool, for an undisclosed sum.
Bourne Travel has been established for over 40 years in the town, selling packaged holidays and providing travel and leisure arrangements for coach parties from across the Fylde coast.
United Co-op Travel's Retail General Manager Alistair Rowland told the News: `For some time we have been seeking to strengthen our presence on the Fylde coast to complement our successful branch within the ASDA superstore at Marton. We are delighted with the acquisition of Bourne Travel, a well respected, independent, and successful local business.
`The business will continue to trade just as it is now, with the same staff offering the same excellent service. The bonus for customers is that Bourne will now be part of a multi-million pound travel operation with the resources to develop the business even further.`
Owners Carol and Peter Nuttall commented: `The important considerations in passing on the legacy of our business as we look forward to retirement was United Coop's reputation for delivering first class service and value to its customers as well as it's very caring attitude towards it's staff at all levels.`
