THE Midlands Co-op Travel shop in Ashby De La Zouch presented a cheque for £ 1,950 to Make a Wish, the society's corporate charity.
Shop manager Emma Croft and her five-strong team worked hard over the past year to raise the money, which will go towards granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
Most of it was raised by two balls, in July and December, each attended by over 100 people eager for evenings of fine food, champagne and dancing.
Not content with this Emma also organised a sponsored walk in the Leicestershire countryside. She said: "Raising the money involved a lot of hard work, but it was worth it. Make a Wish is such a worthy cause that it was a pleasure to hand the £ 1,950 to the charity. I hope it will go towards making the wishes come true for the special children who Make a Wish helps."
