NOTTINGHAM&#039S monthly farmers&#039 market at the Wollaton Co-op is to continue following overwhelming support from shoppers.
Thousands visited the three trial markets in the Co-op car park, which offered an average of 15 stalls, selling a wide range of products including English wines, preserves, organic fruit and vegetables, cheese, venison, ostrich meat and free range eggs.
Organised by the Co-operative Group and the Nottinghamshire Farmers&#039 Association, the market will be held on the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 1pm.
"There is tremendous support in the area for the farmers&#039 market; people like the products and like to support their local farmers. As the Co-operative Group is committed to supporting local producers and the communities it serves, we are delighted we can provide a venue and help organise the market,` said senior co-operative affairs officer April Armstrong.
The Group conducted a survey of shoppers at two of the trial markets and the top reasons for visiting were to support local farmers and to buy good quality products and organic produce.
