A CANCER care charity has received a £ 700 boost, thanks to the efforts of Co-op guildswomen.
Members of the Co-operative Womens Guild and the National Guild of Co-operators handed over the cheque to the Macmilan Nurses for the care of cancer patients in the North East.
The fundraising campiagn was spearheaded by Linda Wood from Springwell Village, who with the help of guildswomen from Gateshead and Newcastle has raised several thousand pounds for the charity over the past few years.
In 2003 the money came in thanks to a series of raffles and a sponsored carol service.
