THE Goals for Girls scheme, set up by Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) in conjunction with Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Sportsmatch, ended in style when the Bolton Muslim Girls School team (right) pitted their skills against Bolton Wanderers Ladies U-14 team.
The girls played two six-a-side games and, after losing the first 5-0, they rallied to produce a defiant comeback holding Bolton to a 2-2 draw ? only losing a lead in the last five minutes.
Bolton Wanderers Football In The Community coach Azam Makki said: "The CIS Goals for Girls project has made all this possible; most of the girls in the team are from local Asian communities and we are proud that they have made this work ? and we've been rewarded by seeing some real talent coming through."
The year-long CIS Goals for Girls project has provided free coaching sessions at venues in Bolton. As part of the initiative the girls were provided with CIS football kit and training equipment.
