NORTHERN Ireland Co-op has won a top prize in the province&#039s Neighbourhood Retailing Awards.
The Co-operative Group&#039s Northern Ireland retail arm took the Training Initiative of the Year Award for its approach to the introduction of a new ?E-Time&#039 electronic scheme to ensure the most efficient operation of stores while delivering quality customer service.
In another top category ? for best Northern Ireland supermarket above 7000 sq ft ? the Larne Co-op was just pipped into second place.
Northern Ireland Co-op training officer Leigh McCleave received the Training Initiative of the Year Award. Leigh worked closely with operations and HR personnel to train staff in tthe ?E-Time&#039 scheme.
"It was a challenge, but a team effort, and we are delighted to receive this award," said Leigh.
Larne Co-op manager Donna Glen also described her branch&#039s success as a real team effort and commended her staff for their commitment and support.
Northern Ireland Co-op Chief Officer Paul Slocombe said: "This is a fantastic achievement by Leigh and Donna, and their colleagues. Everyone at Northern Ireland Co-op is incredibly proud of them."
