PENDLE in Lancashire has become a Fairtrade Borough, and celebrated with an event at Marsden Park Golf Club in Nelson, with Co-op stores providing Fairtrade products.
Labour/Co-op Councillor Dorothy Ormrod, Chair of the Fairtrade Group said: "This is the result of a close partnership between the Council, the Trade Justice Movement, Traidcraft and local churches and schools. We urge more outlets in Pendle to join other businesses and become part of the Fairtrade movement."
Mrs Ormrod serves on both Pendle District Council and Lancashire County Council, which aims to become the country's first Fairtrade county.
