A NEW food co-operative in Blyth Valley has won a £ 500 community grant from North Eastern and Cumbrian Co-op.
Working with five community centres Blyth Valley Food Co-op aims to provide fruit and vegetables to members.
The £ 500 grant will enable it to purchase cotton carrier bags, chosen for strength and sustainability.
The bags will be provided free to new members and each will carry an individual identification number.
Members leave their bags at a community centre on a Wednesday and collect them on a Friday. Each will contain £ 4 worth of vegetables and fruit.
