THE Co-operative Group is offering cash for schools by extending the popular Dividend Card scheme to nearly 6,000 primary schools in England and Wales.
Co-op Cash for Schools is offering teachers, parents and friends the chance to earn cash for their school every time they shop at participating Co-op Group food stores.
Individual Dividend Cardholders currently earn cash on all purchases ? 3p for every £ 1 spent on Co-op brand goods and fresh foods and 1p Dividend for every £ 1 spent on all other groceries.
Now the Group has contacted almost 6,000 English and Welsh primary schools situated near Co-op food stores inviting them to open an individual Dividend Card account and participate in a pilot scheme which could eventually be rolled out to all parts of the UK .
Shoppers can raise money for their school by picking up a Dividend Card in store and quoting the school's individual Dividend Card number when they register the card.
The school will receive Dividend vouchers twice a year, which can be exchanged for cash or goods at any Co-operative Group store.
Ged Carter, general manager, marketing, for the Co-operative Group, said: `We are committed to supporting the local communities that we serve. Co-op Cash for Schools can help teachers, parents, relatives and friends raise money for their school to spend on whatever the school needs most, from sports equipment to computers ? the choice is theirs.`
