FOLLOWING the retirement of Keith Darwin, Kevin Cooke, former Deputy CEO, has now taken over as Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln Co-op. Mr Darwin still remains Chairman of the Co-operative Group.
The society said Mr Cooke is determined to build on past success with a continuing commitment to the co-operative principles of ethical dealing, democratic ownership and providing support to local communities.
Mr Cooke commented: "My role is to ensure we continue not only as a successful business but as a successful co-operative business and, through the support, skills and efforts of all our staff, to deliver our co-operative mission."
Mr Cooke&#039s co-operative career began as a trainee accountant with Co-operative Retail Services and continued in Arbroath as Assistant Accountant before moving to Lincoln Society to take up the role of Assistant Group Accountant in 1998.
Successive promotions over the years have seen him progress to Group Accountant, Financial Controller, Assistant Chief Executive, and Chief Executive Designate. During his time with the Society, Mr Cooke has developed the Society&#039s management information systems and spearheaded a number of key initiatives, including the introduction of Lincoln Society&#039s Dividend Card.
