NORTH Eastern & Cumbrian Co-op's food and department store area managers swapped their business suits to dress as children's characters for a day in aid of the Co-operative Group's national childrens' charity campaign.
The Co-op Caring Together campaign aims to raise £ 500,000 during 2003 for the Association of Children's Hospices.
Tigger, Pooh, the Mask, the Wombles, Mr Blobby, Postman Pat and the Smurfs could all be found encouraging Co-op staff and customers in Gateshead to part with their cash in aid of the charity.
Local beneficiaries will be St Oswalds Hospice, based in Newcastle, the Butterwick Hospice in Stockton and Cumbria's Eden Valley Hospice.
