International Day of Co-operatives

The International Day of Co-operatives (IDC) is on 2 July 2011. The theme for this year’s IDC is: Youth, the future of co-operative enterprise. The theme coincides with the conclusion of the United Nations International Year of Youth in August 2011. The idea is to promote the participation of young people in the co-operative movement – and this should be a high priority in Australia. Young people throughout the world have a limited knowledge of the co-operative model – its history, achievements and potential.
