ZINAHCO is the federation for housing co-operatives in Zimbabwe. It is non-profit. It works with low to non-income Zimbabwean people and currently has a membership of home-seekers. Their objectives are to:
- Assist member societies to purchase stands, building materials, and land.
- Provide training and advice to members.
- Provide loans and housing insurance for members.
- Mobilise housing groups, network with other organisations, provide information to members on issues affecting housing.
- Lobbying and advocacy.
ZINAHCO had 3,400 individual members in 2006 and 6,300 in 2010 and approximately 10,000 in 2011. They have 162 member society co-operatives. Their income in 2010 was USD 216,716 and their income in 2011 was USD 512,430. Most of their income comes from grants from development agencies such as the Swedish Co-operative Centre. Their assets in 2010 were USD 81,280 and in 2011 were 299,809. Their reserves are USD 36,061 in 2010 and USD 94,707 in 2011.
