In the face of our broken economy, more people are recognizing the need to go beyond business as usual and begin building a new economy “in the shell of the old”. Across the country and around the world, people are building grassroots economies based on democracy, sustainability and cooperation. One of the pillars of this new economy is a worker-owned cooperative, a business that is owned and controlled by its workers. Want to learn more about worker-owned businesses? Join Third Coast Workers for Cooperation for a participatory workshop on the nuts and bolts of worker-owned cooperatives, an alternative business model that is reshaping our economy by putting people and the planet first.
