Co-op Group opens new-look Hereford store

The store re-opens after a 10-week upgrade

The Co-op Group is opening a new-look food store in Hereford following a £1.5m investment to transform its Grandstand Road store.

The 11,500 sq ft store – which includes a Peacock’s clothing concession – supports 45 local jobs, and runs on 100% renewable electricity.

Re-launching today 10 September, after a 10-week programme of works, the new-look store includes Costa coffee express, Amazon Lockers, free customer car parking and enhanced bakery, alongside an increased focus on fresh, heathy produce, award winning wines, ready meals and pizzas, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and, everyday essentials.

From the 22 October the store will offer a new click & collect service, with collections available in as little as two hours through the Group’s own online shop (coop.co.uk/shop) – providing quick, safe and easy shopping locally where customers can be in and out conveniently.

Store manager Gareth Jones said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Hereford, transforming the store with a great new look and offer to better serve the community.

“Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and our aim is to operate at the heart of local life. That is why we also want customers to know that they can become a member of their Co-op, and that they can make a difference to local causes every time they swipe their membership card when buying own branded products.”

The Group has announced plans to open more than three food stores a week until December, taking advantage of the increase in convenience shopping during lockdown and continuing its efforts to reach new communities.
