Co-op Group brings same-day delivery service to Isle of Man

The retailer is also marking the centenary of its first store on the island

The Co-op Group has expanded its online shopping operation with the launch of its first on demand home delivery service on the Isle of Man.

Run from the Group’s in Ramsey, the same-day service allows shoppers to select from around 4,000 products on the retailer’s online shop – which offers home delivery or click and collect slots in as little as two hours.

Products are selected and picked by store colleagues in Ramsey. The Group says its stores are “an integral part of the new online service by working as micro distribution hubs locally”.

The online delivery service travels up to 10.5km across the IM8, and part of the IM7 postal area, covering Ramsey and the north of the island.

The new online offer comes ahead of the Group marking the 100th anniversary of its first store on the Isle of Man, which opened in Duke Street, Douglas in 1920.

The anniversary will also see the Group open a new store on the island, in Crosby, creating new local jobs and taking its store count on the island to 11.

Area manager Andy Corrie said: “This is an exciting year for our Co-op, marking 100 years since our first store here on the Isle of Man opened; we will see the launch of an online service for the first time, and a new store opening later in the year.

“With our store colleagues locally carefully selecting the products the service really does compliment clicks and bricks – the Co-op has a proud past, and an exciting future as we continue to work to get closer to our members and customers.”

Items ordered through the online shop also benefit from the Co-op’s Membership scheme, where members receive a 5% reward when purchasing own-brand products, and the Co-op donates a further 1% to local causes.

Jason Perry, head of online development, said: “Quality, ease and convenience is at the core of our approach and we continue to innovate and expand access to our products in order to offer greater flexibility and choice locally to meet the needs of our communities.”
