Coop Sweden begins same-day home delivery service

‘This is the next step in our bid to offer the best and smoothest solution for shopping food online’

Coop Sweden has launched same-day grocery deliveries for online purchases in the Greater Stockholm area.

The retailer launched the service on 2 September, to meet consumer demand for flexbility and convenience.

It has partnered with logistics company Widrikssons Åkeri on the venture, which uses delivery vehicles that run on fossil-free fuels certified by the Swedish eco-label, Bra Miljöval (Good Environmental Choice).

Customers must place their order by 11.30am for same-day delivery can choose from three time slots – 6-8pm, 7-9pm and 8-10pm.

“This is the next step in our bid to offer the best and smoothest solution for shopping food online,” said Niklas Zeitlin, operational manager at Coop Online.

“In recent months, we have continued to develop our offering and launched several new delivery methods, but also started several pilots with new delivery solutions.

“We want to ensure that our members and customers receive the service and flexibility they expect by shopping on coop.se.”

Coop plans to extend the service to other areas after initially offering the service in Greater Stockholm.

Widrikssons CEO Johan Nyblom said: “Same-day deliveries require smart logistics, the right vehicles and personnel, and close cooperation between us as a carrier and the dealer.

“We are really proud that we have now come up with a really good solution alongside Coop, for their members and customers.”
