Gina Fusco, director of strategy and marketing at NFU Mutual, has been elected chair of the Intelligence Committee of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF).

A sub-committee of the ICMIF board of directors, the group is made up of senior executives from 24 member organisations from around the globe. The network was set up to guide ICMIF’s networking and knowledge activities.

Through the intelligence subcommittee, ICMIF works to share strategic intelligence and research, along with best practice methodologies on innovation, technology, sustainability, and other emerging issues.

Ms Fusco, who joined the committee in 2014, is responsible for strategy, propositions, marketing and corporate communications across the NFU Mutual Insurance Group. Prior to joining NFU Mutual she was head of saving, investments and banking at Abbey National and head of advertising at Barclays, as well as a founding director of ING Direct UK.

At ICMIF, she will take over from Bill McKinney (Thrivent Financial, USA), who held the role since November 2015. In her new role she will also join the ICMIF board of directors as ex-officio member.

“I am thoroughly delighted to have been asked to chair the ICMIF Intelligence Committee,” said Ms Fusco.

“I joined the committee in 2014 and have been an avid supporter ever since. The opportunity to discuss strategic issues, global trends and opportunities with people from mutual and cooperative insurers around the world is invaluable.

“The outputs and insights shared among the ICMIF network are world class and the case studies provide practical examples of how other organisations are reacting to market trends – all of which have provided useful input to our thinking and strategies at NFU Mutual.”

Shaun Tarbuck, ICMIF chief executive, added: “We are thrilled that Gina has accepted this role to chair our Intelligence Committee. She has been an active and valued contributor to the committee over the last five years, bringing her experience and strategic vision to the high-level work of the committee.

“I would like to thank Bill McKinney for his service during his three-and-a-half year tenure as chair and look forward to seeing the committee continue to thrive under Gina’s new leadership”.

Ms Fusco was elected at the recent ICMIF Intelligence Committee meeting in Paris. The meeting also saw Nadine Anemüller, head of international cooperation at DEVK (Germany), elected to the position of vice-chair of the Intelligence Committee.
