USA’s Credit Union National Association launches finance eSchool

The training will cover various topics, including financial statement analysis, examining capital and analysing profits

The USA’s national trade body for credit unions will be running a finance eSchool for the sector’s members and professionals.

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA), which represents over 100 million members of credit unions in the US, says the new eSchool is designed to provide fundamental finance information to professionals in the sector.

It also offers details on more specialised topics such as asset liability management, trend and peer group analysis.

“The need for financial training is beyond the duties of a chief financial officer,” said Amanda Schumacher, CUNA instructional design manager. “As all credit union business areas are exposed to the effects of financial decisions, it’s vital for them to have an opportunity to learn the basics.”

The live sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 15 May and 6 June. Recorded sessions will also be available online for professionals who are unable to take part in the live sessions.

CUNA will also award Board Financial Literacy Certificates to those attending. The training will cover various topics, including financial statement analysis, understanding and calculating key ratios for credit unions, connecting the relationships between elements of the financial statements, examining capital, analysing profits, covering the nine risks credit unions face, and gaining a better understanding of asset liability management.

More information about the paid course and how to register is available on CUNA’s website.
