Scotmid wins Most Trusted & Ethical Convenience Retailer award

The society has been recognised for its work engaging with local community initiatives and its efforts to reduce food wastage

Scotmid Co-operative received special recognition at the CTP Awards 2017, winning The Shopper’s Most Trusted & Ethical Convenience Retailer for 2017.

The CTP (Convenience Tracking Programme) Awards were launched in 2003 to celebrate the best-in-class in convenience, based on the views of shoppers.

During its annual research, CTP interviewed 20,000 shoppers and thousands of store managers and staff in the convenience sector, to find the deserving recipients of 15 awards.

The Shopper’s Most Trusted & Ethical Convenience Retailer award is based on shopper ratings on how well they believe a store is engaging with local community initiatives and to what extent it is actively trying to reduce food wastage.

“Receiving recognition like this award from the CTP is a special achievement for our team, especially because it is chosen by shoppers.” said Scotmid Food’s retail operations director, Kevin Plant.

“As a community convenience retailer, Scotmid prides ourselves at being at the heart of our communities, so this award genuinely means a huge amount.”

The Co-op Group was also recognised at the ceremony, taking away the awards for The Shopper’s Favourite Managed Convenience Retailer and Favourite Convenience Retailer. Mutual Nisa received the award for The Shoppers Favourite Convenience Retailer for Communication.
