The Ecology Building Society has announced the appointment of Martin Sims as its new chief operating officer.
Mr Sims, who replaces the recently retired George Haslem, will lead the sustainable mortgages and savings operations at the West Yorkshire-based outfit, as well as the development of its support for community-led housing.
He joins Ecology from The Co-operative Bank where he held senior mortgage, distribution and network operations roles.
His 30-year career in retail banking and building societies also saw him work at Royal Bank of Scotland and HBOS.
Chief executive Paul Ellis said: “I am thrilled to welcome Martin to Ecology. His wide-ranging and comprehensive experience will be a major asset to the society.
“This is a critical role as we develop and grow our sustainable lending as well as supporting our savings members.”
Mr Sims added: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Ecology. I am looking forward to playing a key part in the future success and development of the society and to help ensure that we continue to meet the needs of all of our members.”
