Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative

Owned and run by local volunteers and others with a passion for literature, they receive and sell quality second-hand books, both adult and children’s, fiction and non-fiction. They also offer a book-finding service, book repair and binding, free WiFi, refreshments and a varied programme of courses and events.

Crediton Community Bookshop

This co-operative is the only independent community-owned bookshop in the Mid-Devon and Exeter area, and stocks “a wide range of books you want and books you don’t know you want!” It has a wide range of children’s books, cards, its our own gift tokens and can supply bulk orders for schools and book groups, too.

George Street Community Bookshop

Established in 2018, this second hand bookshop is owned and run by the community, with a huge stock including fiction, collectibles, local interest and children’s literature. It also posts a regular podcast, In the Bookshop, and a blog for staff and members to recommend books.

A non-profit driven workers co-operative, Letterbox is a children’s bookseller celebrating equality and diversity. It was started in 1983 by two single mothers operating from home, who wished to provide multicultural and non-sexist books for children – offering essential topics and titles which were sadly neglected by mainstream booksellers. Every book they sell has been approved by its independent volunteer readers who include teachers, librarians, early years staff, childminders, parents and, of course, children themselves.

Malvern Book Cooperative is a local independent, community owned, ethical bookshop, selling a wide range of new books and book-related gifts. There is also a small cafe.

News from Nowhere Bookshop

News From Nowhere Radical & Community Bookshop has served Liverpool, the north west, and beyond, with the best in radical literature since 1974. It’s run on a not-for-profit basis by News From Nowhere Co-operative – a women’s collective of five permanent, paid bookshop workers.

October Books, founded in 1977, is a not-for-profit co-operative radical neighbourhood bookshop selling general popular fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, alongside our traditional range of specialised radical books and magazines. Its specialty areas are social issues, adoption, humanities and political issues and over the years, it has expanded its range to greeting cards, organic and fair-trade foods and green household items.
