The Co-op Group has been named as the fourth best supermarket improver in the 2016 BrandIndex Mid-Year Rankings.
The rankings are compiled by market research firm YouGov. Co-op Food received a score of 4.2 for January to June 2016, compared with 2.1 in the same period last year – representing a change of 2.2 when rounded to a single decimal place.
At the top of the supermarket improvers list was Tesco (moving from -18.4 to -1.3), Morrisons (from 0.4 to 6.0) and Sainsbury’s (up from 4.0 to 8.1).
YouGov’s BrandIndex Buzz score asks respondents: “If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”

The Buzz Improvers charts shows the brands with the highest increase in Buzz between January and June in 2015 compared with January and June 2016.
Co-op Food brand named ‘biggest supermarket improver’
The scores showcase the continual improvement at the Co-op Group’s food output. In January it was named as number one in the BrandIndex list of supermarket improvers. It received 2.7 in 2015, after scoring -3.7 in 2014, an overall improvement score of 6.4. This made the Co-op Group’s supermarkets the fourth biggest improver across all sectors, behind the Co-operative Bank, Wonga, and British Gas.
