Network Rail is being encouraged to provide genuine public accountability to the railways by mutualising the organisation along the lines of the co-operative foundation trust model.

THE Co-operative Party has announced details of a full programme of events and activities throughout 2007 aimed at increasing its profile and effectiveness and marking the Party's 90th anniversary in style. Emphasising the need for participation and public involvement, project co-ordinator Alun Michael MP told the News that the aim is to complement existing campaigning strategies on issues like Fairtrade and the need for carbon neutral communities, rather than distract from them.
