As the International Summit of Cooperatives draws to a close, co-operators will get one last chance to learn about global co-operation.
The International Health Co-operatives forum and the International Conference on Housing Cooperatives will take place today at the Centre des Congrès de Lévis.
The Health Forum has the theme ‘For a Better World’ it is a unique opportunity to understand the great variety of ways in which the co-operative model can satisfy needs in the health sector.
The programme will start at 8.30am with the keynote speech being deliver by Dr Rüdiger Krech from World Health Organization at 9.15. Dr Rüdiger Krech is Director of the Department of Ethics, Equity, Trade and Human Rights at the WHO.
The first panel will include speakers Dr José Carlos Guisado, Dr.Toshinori Ozeki, and Dr. Eudes de Freitas Aquino on ‘To share to learn: for a better world’.
This will be followed by a video presentation on the Co-operatives of Health in Canada and in Quebec: Innovation for members at 10.40am.
After some physical relaxation and a health break, the second panel on ‘Our best achievements: For a Better World’ will take place at 11.15 with guest speakers including: Dr Giuseppe Milanese, Federazione Sanità confcooperative and Dr Ricardo Lopez, Federación Argentina de Entidades Solidarias de Salud.
The main conference ‘Co-operatives facing the twenty-first century health challenges ’ by Michèle St-Pierre and Jean-Pierre Girard: Overview of challenges related to the subjects of workshops will start at 1.30pm.
Co-operators will then take part in one of four workshops on co-operatives and health.
The closing remarks will be held at 4.45pm.
The Housing conference will start at 9am. It will focus on the successes and challenges of housing co-operatives in the world and will trace the history of housing co-operatives in Europe. It is open to all, but registration is required.
