A fourth consecutive year of record results has been announced by United Co-operatives since the United/Yorkshire Co-op merger in 2002. Profits at society are up 76 per cent on the back of a turnover increase of 5.5 per cent. 

A PROSPECTUS issued jointly by the boards of the Co-operative Group and United Co-operatives makes a powerful case for merging Britain’s two biggest retail societies.

FORMER Leeds Co-op Chief Executive Alan Gill has been elected as President of this year’s Co-operative Congress in Brighton over the weekend June 22nd to 24th.Currently an executive with United Co-operatives following the society’s merger with Leeds, which was completed earlier this year, Mr Gill has also worked over the years for North East Co-op, NACO, Norwest Society, Co-operatives UK and the United Kingdom Co-operative Council.

THE Co-op brand has been named as the most ethical in the UK. Research by Gfk NOP said Co-op stores, including Co-operative Financial Services, is seen by shoppers as the most ethical brand in the country.
