For the attention of the executive and board leaders of ICMIF member organisations.  As leaders of this sector we are often invited to a myriad of events and conferences, says Shaun Tarbuck, ICMIF CEO.

It is therefore important that I share with you why ICMIF is an official partner at this October’s Quebec International 2012 Summit of Cooperatives and why I hope that you will join me there and participate in our complementary ICMIF Insurance Leaders Forum on Monday, October 8, prior to the Summit’s opening ceremony. Please register here.

Deciding whether to attend October’s International Summit of Cooperatives was easy for me. From looking at the speaker list, which incidentally includes leaders from a number of our member organisations and associates, it is clearly going to be unrivalled in terms of both content and inspiration.

This year is the UN International Year of Cooperatives and for me it has never been more vital that I contribute towards discussions that could result in an increase in the influence that the cooperative and mutual model has worldwide.

And I’m not alone in my commitment. Big names from ICMIF’s membership including: Capricorn’s Colin Heavyside (Australia) The Co-operative Group’s Peter Marks (United Kingdom), CIC Kenya’s Nelson Kuria (Kenya) and NTUC Income’s Tan Suee Chieh (Singapore) have committed their precious time to participate in the event. Why? Because it promises value to their businesses.

Take, for example, ICMIF’s former Chair, Kathy Bardswick, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Co-operators Group, Ontario. She recently participated in an interview about why she is attending…“It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, given this very special year, to bring best practices back to my co-operative to ensure a healthy and dynamic future for the co-operative form of business”.

Against the backdrop of this unique Summit, I believe that ICMIF can add further value to our members’ business trip. We are therefore facilitating our first complementary, closed door ICMIF Insurance Leaders Forum on Monday 8th October. To register your free place click here.

The half-day session is intended to create an opportunity for some of the leading forces in our industry to come together to solve specific issues affecting our sector, as well as their personal boardroom debates. The discussion-based agenda will focus on a number of key strategic topics selected by the group in advance, working in both small and large groups. The discussions will also focus on practical solutions to help resolve delegate’s specific challenges and issues. I anticipate these forums to be regular occurrences that will tie in with other major events on all of our calendars and that the support and networking value will be immense for all those involved.

Discussions will finish with a summary session, then flowing into an early evening social and networking reception for the International Summit of Cooperatives.

I hope that what I have outlined sounds of interest and benefit to your organisation. Please register for your free place at the ICMIF Insurance Leaders Forum.
