The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has upheld the Maharashtra State Consumer Commission’s order asking the IFFCO-TOKIO general insurance unit to pay nearly Rs.30 lakh to the Bombay based company -the Prime Health Care Product.
It is worth noting that the Bombay firm had suffered great losses due to a godown made completely unserviceable by saturation with water and insured by IFFCO-TOKIO.
IFFCO-TOKIO’s argument before the Maharashtra Consumer Commission that the firm had insurance for the damage caused by the flood and not by seepage was rejected by the commission as hyper-technical.
