The Employee Ownership Association (EOA), representing businesses that contribute more than £30bn to the UK economy each year, welcomes the support for employee ownership from all three main parties over recent months.

On behalf of our growing membership, and the many prospective employee owners across the country, the EOA wants to see this recent support reflected in the respective manifestos that will be used in the next General Election. Specifically the

EOA is calling for:

• All parties to support the EOA’s “10 by 20” campaign, working toward 10 per cent of UK GDP generated by employee owned businesses by 2020;
• All parties to commit to supporting the achievement of the 10 per cent target through targeted tax incentives;
• All parties to commit to a dramatic increase in the use of employee ownership as a way of spinning out and transforming the delivery of public services.
The “10 by 20” campaign is calling for measures to increase the number of employee owned businesses in the UK, from three to ten per cent of UK’s GDP by 2020. It is supported by various high-level politicians, including Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
