ANGLIA Regional Society has launched a pilot of its buying service for all department stores in the Co-operative Movement.
The division of the society, named Anglia Buying Service, has started a trial run with Lincolnshire Co-op's Home Stores. To test its technology and processes ABS has begun buying for the cook shop in Lincolnshire's stores.
In September, the pilot scheme will come to an end and ABS will then handle all buying for non-food stores when the Co-operative Retail Trading Group – which currently buys goods for all
branches – closes its department stores division.
The operation covers all societies that have department stores and will look after combined sales of around £ 200 million.
